Chatham County has
a LCID (land-clearing inert debris) landfill located at the Waste Management Facility, 720 County Landfill Road. Hours of business are Monday thru Friday, 7:00 AM until 3:30 PM.
A $20/ton tipping fee is charged for the following items:
- Yard waste (branches, grass clippings, leaves)
- Wood waste, pallets (clean, untreated, unpainted)
- Stumps
- Brick, block, concrete, rock
- Sand, dirt

Once a year a contractor with the Waste Management Division grinds and windrows the yard waste and clean wood waste to make landscaping mulch. This mulch is sold by the cubic yard during the spring on Saturdays, and is loaded into your vehicle. Arrangements can be made to have large amounts delivered to your site. Other items accepted at the Waste Management Facility:
The following items are accepted from both private households and businesses at no charge:
- Appliances and scrap metal
- Tires with no rims (call ahead at 542-5516 if you have 100 or more)
- Motor oil (also including kerosene, diesel fuel, Coleman fuel, transmission fluid, hydraulic fluid, gear oil)
- Cooking oil
- Cardboard
